This weekend I was hanging out with some friends who happen to live in a very Red pocket of a very Blue state. Two of them, a married couple, just came back from a vacation to a major US city. Before boarding their return flight they were stopped by Homeland Security and detained for over an hour because one of their names was on the Homeland Security Watchlist. They were not told whose name (his or hers) was on the Watchlist because this information is not "public". They were almost not allowed to fly home from their vacation. They will not be able to fly at ALL for at least 45 days, if not longer, while this gets resolved.
These people are blond, Caucasian grandparents. They have yellow ribbon stickers on their cars and flags hanging in front of their home. I've never asked but I am pretty sure they voted for Bush.
